Community Science Project

This summer I interned in a biotech lab at UMASS Medical School under Silvia Corvera. Here, I shadowed a girl who was doing post-doc research. She was looking for the binding sight of a protein called angiopoitein-like 4 in HUVEC (Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells) cells. This is done by running western blots to measure protein concentration in a sample, which is what I learned to do this summer. This is a picture of one of my blots, it shows insulin concentration in a sample of HUVEC cells. The insulin was tracked by an anti p. tyrosine antibody from a mouse.
