Types of Protein


Ovalbumin, a type of storage protein, is found in the albumin (whites) of eggs.

Keratin, a type of structural protein, is found in animal hair and claws.

Insulin, a type of hormone, regulates metabolism and the breakdown of carbohydrates and fats from ingested foods. When synthetically making insulin for the purpose of diabetics, scientists connect small pieces of DNA in the proper sequence into plasmids. These plasmids are then ingested into Escherichia coli specimens who "switch on" the insulin.
