Parasitism

This is an indian pipe flower, or Monotropa uniflora. It is non-photosynthetic, and obtains its nutrients through parasitism. Its roots are connected to fungi that are connected to tree roots. It is called a mycotroph because it feeds off of fungi. This flower was found near 6 Rosewood Place, Westborough MA.
